This is known as Cabrillo National monument, site of the first lighthouse in San Diego. This is located at the tip of San Diego known as "Point Loma". There are hiking trails that go down the cliffs near the oceans edge. On many clear days in San Diego this is the ideal place to view the entire city all the way down to the Mexican border 17 miles away. In the picture to the left you can almost make out the Coronado Bay Bridge, The white buildings are condo's on Coronado and just to the left is the famous Coronado Dell Hotel. The picture to the right is looking due South over the Point Loma hills you can see the Coronado Islands off in the distance (15 miles away) These Islands are located in Mexican waters, and is a popular fishing area.
